About me

Katya Taylor has been studying and practicing photography in the South East of England for 11 years, and has plans to become an educator at a university level.  Her practice uses both digital and analogue techniques, which she uses to better develop her knowledge of the processes themselves, whilst also using it as a documentary tool to deepen her understandings of the world that we live in.

Katya’s work encourages her to stay fascinated by the aesthetic qualities of natural geographic and botanical forms; of theoretical explorations of social norms and representations of select groups within different societies; and also research surrounding our understandings of the interconnectedness of space, place and belonging. Katya’s work is delicately composed and crafted to be precise in its visual structure yet unique, and also inquisitive in its explorations of the themes and subjects that pique her interest. Dedicated to her own work and to the success of others’, Katya thrives best in an environment that allows equal opportunity to all creatives alike.

Katya is currently undertaking a Masters Degree in Surrey where she aims to expand on her practice and understanding in the above areas, whilst assisting as a gallery technician as she has done for the last two years, in the James Hockey Gallery where her own work once hung. She is open to creative teaching opportunities, gallery work, and commissions.
